"And now for something completely different..."
It's been a while since my last post, so I just felt like sharing this rather neat hack I found on YouTube. Apparently, a guy named Lasse who can neither play the piano nor the drums taped himself playing different, single sounds on each instrument and then edited those to a somewhat coherent musical experience. Great stuff, Lasse! (Or as Wau Holland might have said: "Ein feiner Fug!")

Softy-n-Softy...
"...remixes easy listening and makes it hard to hear."
Fab! (As the Cartoonist would say) Heather & Peter have done it again and released some more quirky sounds on their website.
I’m currently listening to the tracks as I’m writing this and putting it onto my iPod – quite the soundtrack for walking through the city, methinks!
As usual, they are proudly hosted here at tomster.org. As not so usual, though, Heather and Peter have started their very own blog. So everybody (yes, all five of you!) please, head on over. At least one of you five (yes, you, Shane) will recognize it as a Quills instance with Shane’s Minima skin that he kindly provided.
This also means, that – unbeknownst so far to Heather and Peter – there is an Atom feed for their blog. Perhaps one of these days we’ll get a proper feed link up! And a nice side effect: this just adds further motiviation to continue my forays into adding Atom Publishing Protocol compliance to Quills – it really makes maintaining a blog so much easier as I’m now painfully aware with my Atom-enabled Blogger.com test blog.

Steadman
Okay, it is a trend. More free, legal music directly from the musicians (and again via boingboing): Steadman are releasing some 130 titles for free!
And while we're at it: check out Van Morisson's 31 contractual obligation songs... ;-)

Harvey Danger
More free music
Is this a trend? Today I stumbled over a band named Harvey Danger who are offering their latest album as a free, unrestricted download.
I'm half way through listening to it and actually enjoying it. Again,
not really my style but a tasty treat and a welcome change! The least I
can do is spread the word ;-)

Brad Sucks
"Please steal this CD!"
I'm listening to Brad's new album "I don't know what I'm doing"
as I'm writing this entry and I'm actually quite likeing it. Not enough
to warrant a blog entry on its own merit but the cool thing is that
Brad is really giving his music away, meaning, not only can you freely download all songs of the album in their entire length and in quality encoding but you can also get the sources of each track to encourage folks to make remixes of them. And indeed they have:
97 remixes are ready for download as of this writing. I don't know
enough about the artist and his music to make a genuine recommendation
but the concept is commendable and the music professional. (Also, this
is finally an entry not containing the p-word!)
