What is this?
Hi, my name is Tom Lazar and I'm a Plone and Zope developer based in Berlin, Germany and this is my personal and professional (no big difference, really...) website.

Full RSS-feeds for Plone

Filed Under:

egg and bacon; egg sausage and bacon; egg and plone; egg bacon and plone; egg bacon sausage and plone; plone bacon sausage and plone; plone egg plone plone bacon and plone; plone sausage plone plone bacon plone tomato and plone

While tweaking the FuxData website I came across the problem, that Plone's default RSS-template only includes the description of its items but not the body text. Firmly believing that only 'fullsize' RSS-feeds are 'real' feeds I set out to add the body to Plone.

In the end there ain't much to be done. Simply add the following line after the description in the rssBody template (located in portal_skins/plone_templates):

<content:encoded><span tal:replace="structure python: '\074![CDATA['+item.getBody()+']]\076'">Bla</span></content:encoded>

Voila! And as a practical side-effect, you can now subscribe to our FuxData blog feed ;-)

Replacing "<content:encoded>" with "<content:encoded xmlns:content="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/content/">" helps if Plone / Zope gives you "xml.parsers.expat.ExpatError: unbound prefix:" errors while saving.
