What is this?
Hi, my name is Tom Lazar and I'm a Plone and Zope developer based in Berlin, Germany and this is my personal and professional (no big difference, really...) website.

Full Frontal Nudity

Filed Under:

What will my Google ranking be with all these corny headlines?

Took me nearly three hours to take my powerbook apart eough (a.k.a. nearly totally) to find out, that the broken hinge was an integral part of the entire display (i.e. its frame).

Gone the hope that I could find some entrepreneural craftsman to make me a custom replacement. Gone even the hope of purchasing an overpriced original sparepart:

Apple Screen Hinge, Left (infrared port side) for PowerBook G4 Titanium (new) - $159.95

Instead, this means, or rather would mean: LCD Screen/Upper Case Assembly with Cables/Hinges for PowerBook G4 Titanium 400/500 and Gigabit Ethernet 550/667 (used) - $999.95

So, what it really means is, that Yes, David, thanks for your offer, I'm gonna get myself a spanking new 12" G4 Powerbook! W00t! I mean, of course, shit, what an unnecessary expense! Just think of all the diapers and Childrens toys we could have bought from this hard earned money. But the way it is, I'm (unfortunately...) forced to buy this expensive, brandnew, shiny geek toy. What a bummer ;-)

Now all I need to do, is get all those parts back together again and pray, that it will still be working... And then we've got ourselves a nice little, quiet Home Entertainment Unit for the Living room (albeit with external display, keyboard and mouse...)

And I mean, come on!, we've got to keep the economy going, don't we?

Too bad this author didn't find the powerbookguy. The hinge is not part of the frame
just a bear to get to.

Oh well, another perfectly good laptop gone to hell.

@Paul: "just a bear to get to"... hm... you could be rifght, of course: I really didn't dare dissassemble the screen itself... anyway, I've reassembled it and it's in good working order ;-)

Now I'm still looking for a way to turn the damn thing one with the lid closed...

Any ideas on that?
